Jeanne Newman
Painter, UBVA Secretary
My first love was to draw and paint animals, pet portraits, and the western landscape. I work in oils, acrylics, watercolor, and mixed media. I believe it is the task of the artist to elevate the mundane to the sublime, and it is a privilege to share my appreciation of our beautiful landscape with others.

Artist – Robin O’Crowley
Painter/Board Member
I have lived in the Uintah Basin for over thirty years. I have dabbled in painting during the years that my children were growing up, mostly tole painting. About 5 years ago I started taking online classes to learn how to paint botanical art, which I love. Over the last 5 years I have challenged myself to do other art, and expanded from botanicals to other paintings, all in watercolor medium. I love serving others. I am on the board for UBVA, and the curator of art at UBTech.

Stephen Sandau
Photographer
I live in the beautiful Uintah Basin… a picturesque region tucked up in the northeast corner of Utah. We have a variety of vistas and stunning landscapes to capture through the lens. Whether it’s a grand sweeping view of Flaming Gorge from the Red Canyon Overlook or the barren badlands of Red Wash. Not all the Basin beauty is on a grand scale. I love to find the small details to photograph. From miniature mushrooms to the petals of an alpine flower, or a prickly pinecone nestled in a bed of pine needles.

Jim Atherton
Illistrator, Artist
From Las Vegas to Lapoint! I’ve always had family in the Uintah Basin, in the Deep Creek area. In late 2021, our family traded city living for the country and are building a home in Lapoint, surrounded by family and beauty, living a simpler life. I have been involved in illustration and publishing for over 25 years. Painting in oils, my preferred medium, is one that I continue to explore and discover. The familiar landscapes and life in Deep Creek are my inspiration. Visiting Deep Creek throughout my childhood has increased my desire to infuse that joy in my paintings. My greatest hope is to share the beauty and love that I have for my home.
