Join us to celebrate our beautiful corner of the state of Utah with a Plein Air Painting and Photography competition – nestled in some of the most beautiful geologic formations in the world. Dinosaur National Monument, Flaming Gorge, Sheep Creek Canyon, Red Fleet Reservoir, Dry Fork Canyon, Fantasy Canyon, and numerous other sites are waiting to be discovered by you, your canvas, or your camera. Two categories, Plein Air Painting & Photography are available!

Saturday July 23rd – Wednesday 27th

Coinciding with the John Wesley Powell River Festival hosted by Vernal City. Live music, art vendors and much more; the festival runs July 28-30.

Cash Prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and honorable mention.

Saturday, July 23rd Check in – 10:00–4:00, Uintah Heritage Museum, 155 E. Main St., Vernal. Bring your canvas, paper, or other medium for stamping. All artists must check-in in person, pick up your welcome packet and begin exploring, painting, and photographing.


Monday, July 25th Late check in 10:00 Uintah Heritage Museum, 155 E. Main St., Vernal


Saturday, July 23th – Wednesday July 27th Paint and photograph the beautiful Uintah Basin and surrounding area. There will be a lots of suggestions in your welcome packet.


Wednesday, July 27th 2:00 – 3:00 Artists and Photographers bring your gallery ready masterpieces to the Uintah Heritage Museum, 155 E. Main St., Vernal. Judging will commence. Note – 2 pieces may be entered for judging for each category


5:00 – 7:00 pm UBVA will host a reception and awards presentation at the museum.
