UBVA Plein Air & Photography Competition

Rules and Regulations

The following items must be agreed to for participation in the 2023 UBVA Plein Air & Photography Competition.

Plein Air Competition

  1. Entries must be created between check in on July 22rd 2023 or July 24th 2023, and 2:00 PM on July 26 2023.
  2. Up to 4 canvases (substrates) can be stamped on back at check in.
  3. Entries must be created in the pure intent of outdoor, on location, plein air painting. At least 75%  of the painting must be produced outdoors in the spirit of plein air in the Greater Uinta Basin area: Uintah, Duchesne, Daggett, Moffat and Rio Blanco Counties.
  4. Two pieces may be submitted into the competition.
  5. Authentication stamp must be visible on the back of artwork substrate.
  6. All entries must be framed and ready to hang with hanging wire installed.
  7. Artist name, artwork title and contact information should be labeled on the back of submissions.
  8. Photographic images of any submitted artwork may be used by UBVA in future marketing and publicity (websites, flyers, social media, etc.).
  9. Images of artists participating in the competition may be used by UBVA in future marketing and publicity (websites, flyers, social media, etc.).

Photography Competition

  1. All entries must be created between the 12:01 AM on July 22, 2023 and 2:00 PM on July 26, 2023 in the Greater Uinta Basin area: Uintah, Duchesne, Daggett, Moffat and Rio Blanco Counties.
  2. All entries must be created outdoors, but subject matter is not strictly limited to landscape photography. For example, architecture, wildlife, action, outdoor portraiture and astrophotography are allowed.
  3. Digital files must be submitted along with the printed submission on USB drive or SD card. The original raw date file is preferred.
  4. Composite images and digital editing are allowed. All elements of a composite image must adhere to the above time, date and geographic limitations.
  5. Two pieces may be submitted into the competition.
  6. All entries must be printed, framed, and ready to hang with hanging wire installed. Unframed entries on stretched canvas are allowed, but must be ready to hang with hanging wire installed.
  7. Artist name, artwork title and contact information should be labeled on the back of submissions.
  8. Photographic images of any submitted artwork may be used by UBVA in future marketing and publicity (websites, flyers, social media, etc.).
  9. Images of artists participating in the competition may be used by UBVA in future marketing and publicity (websites, flyers, social media, etc.).
